Madeleine Johansson

Madeleine Johansson (b. 1984) works as a freelance flutist. She was educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm in 2002-2009, where she obtained a bachelor's degree, a master's degree with an orchestra profile and a Post Graduate soloist diploma after seven years of full-time studies there. She has also been educated in Germany and Spain. Madeleine Johansson has played in most of the professional symphony orchestras in Sweden and in 2017 she participated in the 'Nordic Tour 2017' with the Stockholm Concert Orchestra and Andrea Bocelli. She has also played with artists such as Henrik Dorsin and Carola, among others. Madeleine Johansson has appeared on CD, radio and TV recordings. She has played concerts and toured in the Nordic countries, the Baltics, Russia, Germany, Spain and as a soloist has played with Gävle Symphony Orchestra and SAMI Sinfonietta, among others. Madeleine has received scholarships from the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Porst Musik, Byggnads Kulturstipendium, Stockholm Concertino, as well as achieved great results in competitions such as the Sweden International Duo Competition, Solistprisert and Ung & Lovande.

In the summer of 2010 and 2012 Madeleine was arranged to teach on an international flute and chambermusic course organized in conjunction with the Swedish International Duo Competition in Katrineholm, Sweden. In August 2013 Masterclasses for young musicians between 10-19 years was arranged at Julita. Teachers at the course were Carl Pontén - piano, Hans Pålsson - Piano, David Oistrakh String Quartet - strings and chamber music, Dimitri Ashkenazy - clarinet and chamber music, Ada Meinich - viola and chamber music, Madeleine Johansson - flute and chamber music.

Madeleine is substituting in several orchestras as The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm, The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping´s Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm Sinfonietta, Stockholm Wind Ensemble, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Stockholm Concert Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Västerås Sinfonietta, The Uppsala Chamber Orchestra, Jönköping´s Sinfonietta, Östgöta Wind Ensemble (Östgöta Musiken), Aurora Chambermusic Festival Orchestra, Valdemarsvik Operan, Orkester Norden, The Symphony Orchestra of The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and with conductors as Mark Wigglesworth, Manfred Honeck, Alan Buribayev, Andrew Litton, Paul Mägi, Otto Tausk, Stefan Solyom to name a few.

Madeleine has in various projects been on tour and made concerts in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia for example. In 2017 Madeleine was a part of the 'Nordic Tour 2017' with Andrea Bocelli and Stockholm Concert Orchestra.

Madeleine is a member in several chamber music ensembles as Stockholm Wind Quartet, Duo Emtell Johansson and Trio Wendel Dominique Johansson. She is regular playing the flute and piano or organ repertoire.

Currently, Madeleine works as a freelancer based in Stockholm. She has assignments as a soloist, chamber musician, flutist in wind- and symphony orchestras in Sweden and abroad.
